brand x
we built a brand that doesn't exist - here's what its data revealed
every founder asks us the same thing before they hand over their data: what will you actually find?
the honest answer is that it depends on your store. but the patterns we look for don't change much - so to show you what we mean, we built one. brand x is a fictional fashion and apparel brand with five years of synthetic order data: 13,000 customers, 30,018 orders, a range of fifteen considered pieces. the customers, emails and transactions are all generated. none of it is real.
the patterns, though, are. we modelled them on what we find again and again when we run the analysis on genuine shopify stores in the £500k to £3m range. here's the one that surfaces almost every time.
at brand x, a single-item order averages £95. add one more item and the average jumps to £238 - a 151% uplift. customers who buy two things aren't twice as valuable; they're two and a half times as valuable. and 65% of orders contain only one product. that gap is revenue sitting in plain sight.
it isn't the only thing the data gives up. a lapsed customer base worth six figures, already won and going unworked. a cluster of customers who have only ever bought on a discount code, quietly eroding margin every time. a top 20% driving more than half of all revenue. none of it shows up in a revenue dashboard - which is the point. brand x grew four and a half times over five years, and every one of these was hiding inside that growth the whole time.
we put the full breakdown on one page, alongside the three report tiers built on the same dataset - so you can see the actual findings, framing and recommendations you'd receive at each level.
